YAY! trader joe's is coming to new york! i can't wait! i think i'm going to be eating better very soon... :)
Posted by naseem at March 8, 2006 11:42 AMCongrats! Do they have Whole Foods in New York? I'm assuming so. Is Trader Joe's like a glorified Whole Foods? I don't have quite enough experience to know...
Posted by: Andrew at March 8, 2006 05:55 PMyeah, we have whole foods. but the lines are at each cash register are usually about 20-30 people long (no exaggeration) -- it's so ridiculous. and actually, trader joe's is like a less glorified whole foods, which is fabulous. in my experience with it, it's always less crowded and far cheaper (mostly because they carry their own brands -- read the article for more info. on that).
i love trader joe's -- or, "trader's joe" as delara's mom would call it. andrew, there are a few in the chicago area, and you should definitely check one out ASAP.
Posted by: nas at March 9, 2006 01:16 PM...like in northern Wilmette or Glenwood or somewhere thereabouts if I remember correctly.
Hey Nas, this is Jay in Austin. Thanks for the brief email update, I hope you're enjoying NY- it looks like you are from the photos-
just getting back into this blog stuff... I may be the only one i know in Austin with a blog, now that i think about it... I guess one has to live in Chicago before they get bitten by the blog bug, haha.
Keep in touch-
Posted by: Jay Br at March 11, 2006 04:33 AMYay for Traders Joe! Woooohooo! I've been neglecting my neighborhood TJ's. I really shouldn't, though.
I really like talking about food during the Fast.
Posted by: lacey at March 13, 2006 04:57 PMlucky! we don't have trader joe's here, and that bums me out. but we have 70-degree weather on days when it's snowing in chicago, so i guess there's a trade-off. still, 'twould be nice to have a tj's here. sigh...
