autumn in new york

yes, it's the title of a bad movie with richard gere and wynona rider. but, it's also the fabulous experience that i'm having in the city right now.

i'd actually never seen autumn until now. i spent my whole life in texas up until last year, when i moved to the chicago area. and in chicago, there was no fall season... there was about a 2-day period where all the leaves fell off the trees and it suddenly froze. and then it was winter for several long months.

new york, however, has been having an indian summer. it was warm until mid-october, and then autumn came. since then, we've had a few cold days, but generally, it's been sunny and pleasantly cool. today it was in the '60s, and it was very nice. the city is quite beautiful, and i'm really enjoying seeing the seasons change... so much so that i can't help but photograph it. here are some pictures of my first autumn in new york.

Thanks for sharing the pics, Nas! To quote another borderline film on the topic of autumn in NY, "If I knew where you lived I'd send you a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils." Doesn't that just evoke the fall?

I'm so jealous of you. I grew up in NY and I really miss seasons! Here in Texas it's typical fickle, yesterday was summer and today is winter.

glad y'all liked the pics. of course, everyone is free to come visit me here... as long as you're willing to chill in the library (tha lie-berry) with me for extensive periods of time. or, you know, leave me in the library and go do something fun in the city. ;-)

javad, i'll be here for a while. george, i'd love to receive some pencils from you sometime. and andrew, it's really a compliment when you like my pictures b/c you're a fab artist. :)

meanwhile, nikki, i had no idea you grew up here. in NYC or upstate? you know, i grew up in texas, so it's funny how we switched places... :)
