yabba-dabba-do

so the other day i bought a box of cocoa pebbles for the first time in years.

like the throwback box i found? the image appears courtesy of post

it's almost gone. i don't even know how many bowls i've eaten in the past 4 days. i think i've been eating healthy adult cereals for so long that i'd truly forgotten how much i love kids' cereals. i'm now convinced that they really enhance the quality of life. i recommend eating them. and i'm determined to experiment with some more old favorites now (even the ones that don't directly contribute to my chocoholism). here's what's on my list for now, but y'all feel free to give me suggestions:

- fruity pebbles
- golden grahams
- rice krispie treats
- froot loops
- pops
- trix

on a somewhat related note, here's a frightening press release about some kids cereals that i don't plan on eating: the ones that are now made with splenda. good thing we're giving kids gas instead of giving them sugar -- that'll fix everything. i love america.

WOW....I can afford gas by the box since I have given up by the gallon!

You forget the apex of all childhood cereals that are bad for you and rot your teeth: Count Chocula. I don't care what it has in it, if I'm going to give in and buy a box of wheaty sugar, it's going to be the Count.

George, I'm a little concerned by the length of your list.

I try to make a point of it to have a box of unhealthy cereal on hand in addition to the adult stuff.

It always gets finished faster than the granola type stuff. *sigh*

George: you forgot Trix and Rice Krispies Treats cereal. :-D

I was going make a couple of other suggestions, but it seems as if George has trumped this hand, so I will make no more suggestions, except to say that Kixs are 'kid tested and mother approved.' There are also a couple Trader Joe's cereals that run along the border between healthy/sugary or childrens/adult, I highly recommend exploring their cereal array.

As a side note, I miss cereal quite a bit. The only cereal I can find in China is imported from the US and is incredibly expensive (a box of cereal costs the same amount I pay for 5 delicious dinners)

Shokufeh: The length is the result of a childhood spent lusting after the forbidden fruits of General Mills and Post. When we did get something as exotic as Honey Nut Cheerios, they were immediately cut with regular Cheerios in no less than a 1:1 ratio. Just like TV, I had to go to other kids' houses to get the good stuff.

Sholeh: I tried not to include the cereals Nas mentioned in the post, but I overlapped anyway. My bad. :) And for the record, I do love granola.

Javad: 1) I think Kix is already plural. ;P 2) 5 delicious dinners? Is that some sort of crazy Chinese dish like General Tso's?

There are only two cereals that make my heart flutter (flutter because of my love for them AS WELL as the reaction to the sugar intake)

1. Cracklin' Oat Bran (Man. I loved this stuff, and felt completely justified in eating the whole box because it says "Bran" in the name of the cereal. I mean, c'mon.)

2. CINNAMON FREAKING TOAST FREAKING CRUNCH.
