fue macanudo! what an amazing week. my first excursion across the equator, and i must say, the southern hemisphere was incredible. geeti and i had so much fun. argentina is a land of beauty, diversity, culture, history, and adventure... did i mention we had SO much fun?! buenos aires was a city full of life, iguazu was spectacular, ushuaia (the town at the end of the world, "el fin del mundo") was a truly unique place, and the glaciar in calafate was really exciting. all over the country, the land was gorgeous and the people were nice and welcoming.
i think my spanish definitely picked up... by the end of the week, my languages were running together--i was mixing persian, english, and spanish all at once. that was interesting. :) also, we were seriously tired after 7 days of non-stop traveling, so that probably helped cook my linguistic soup a little. but even though it was hectic, we were well taken care of... of course we loved mr. and mrs. wangdi--they really made us feel at home. the whole experience was just fantastic on every level.
so yeah... WOW. couldn't have asked for a better vacation. especially after being sick and basically unprepared to go... it was as perfect as it could be. as usual, i live a blessed life.
and now, i'm back to reality... happy naw-ruz everyone! it's new year and i'm definitely ready to quit hibernating and jump into spring. if only the weather in chicago would start feeling like spring... it snowed this morning. yuck. i think it'll be may before it's warm. so for now i'll just have to close me eyes, remember the tropical air of iguazu soaking into my skin, and let the smile creep across my face...

I'm so glad you had such a great time in Argentina. I knew you'd make it, and I knew it would be fabulous!
Thanks for the gorgeous pictures and I look forward to hearing more about this trip to the other side of the globe. I'm glad you recognize that you live just as charmed a life as I do.
Posted by: george at March 24, 2005 11:53 AMWhoa. I hadn't really thought of vacationing in Argentina before, but these pictures totally convinced me. I can't believe how gorgeous and diverse the land is!
Posted by: +mojan. at March 24, 2005 12:24 PM"Spring" is two weeks in may or june here in Chicago, just FYI. :)
Beautiful pictures! I wish that every year I could go south of the equator right around mid-march just to remember what summer feels like. Maybe I should go to South America next year...with my husband! BWAH!!!
Posted by: lacey at March 24, 2005 05:20 PMBeautiful pictures!
I haven't seen hills for many months now, I think I need to go climb a random mountain someday soon.
These pictures have caused me to want to visit Argentina more than ever before. I look forward to seeing more and hearing more.
Wow. these pictures are truly beautiful. Maybe this is where I will do my year of service....
Posted by: Maddie at March 26, 2005 05:19 PMAre these pictures the reason why Jessica is so amped about Argentina?
Haha, but seriously, thanks for posting this. It makes me think about my year of service (actually, most things do, but whatever). Glad to know you had such a good time (and that you weren't sick!).
Posted by: Mia at March 26, 2005 08:52 PMArgentina looks beautiful and you look very tan! I am crying for Argentina since it doesn't get the pleasure of your company.
