right. so... i, the girl who gets sick all the time, the girl from texas who's long been spoiled by a warm climate... i lived in chicago for 7 months without getting sick, surviving the winter and feeling fine. wow. i was beginning to think i'd finally acquired an immune system. what a pleasant surprise.
but wait... then comes march (almost spring!), and 5 days before i'm supposed to go to argentina... that's when it finally hits me. that's right kids, i have the flu. perfect timing. and so typical of my life. yuck and yuck. so i've been lying in bed for a few days now, annoyed that i can't fast (as i LOVE the bahai season of fasting), but grateful to be tended to by people who love me... mostly i've been praying a lot, hoping to God i don't have to cancel my trip. i'm supposed to be on a plane to buenos aires thursday night. let's hope i make it...
Posted by naseem at March 8, 2005 01:52 PMNas, you WILL make it. I've got the same cold (in fact, I've given it to someone else) and we can all beat it together. Red tea, echinacea, vitamins C and B-complex, you know the routine, you've got the doctors in the family. I see you on that plane. You're going to the southern hemisphere, where it's _summer_ right now. Visualize it.

Posted by: delara at March 8, 2005 05:15 PMoh wait, not ditto on having the same cold. or on giving it to someone else, although i can't imagine who _that_ might be, george. he he. but ditto on everything else. nas, you can do it!

Posted by: Pierre at March 9, 2005 12:50 AMalthough i don't know you, as my blog sister, i wish you speedy recovery! argentina, huh? whereabouts? my boyfriend is there now in some mountain town...it sounds so cool. but stock up on the carbs - he says he has seen no rice and barely any potatoes or bread...but tons of meat!
Posted by: meisa at March 9, 2005 08:28 AMNas --
You have good motivation to get better --we have been praying for you like mad down here! You'll make it -Nas always pulls it out at the last minute when necessary!
I love you and keep taking care of yourself--I will spare you the advise as I am sure mom is calling you non-stop tp give you advice. Has she told you to drink grape juice yet? That was a new one... last time I was sick and it made me laugh so hard that all the viruses shook off --and i got well--without drinking grape juice!
Love,
Tem
hey nas, i hope you feel better soon. :) i like your blog!
Posted by: edward at March 9, 2005 03:46 PMawww, thanks everyone. y'all are the best. here's my attempt at being positive (wow, this is gonna feel so unnatural). ok, here goes:
so even though i happened to be stuck in bed during our freak 65-degree day in chicago this weekend and thus missed the warm weather fun, at least the weather in argentina will be very nice (provided i make it there alive and can then venture outside). hmmmm, i dunno if that still legitimately counted as a positive comment after my parenthetical statement there. oh well. :)

65!!? I'm so jealous. But not of your cold/flu/thing. Ick. How long will you be upside-down? Looks like I'll be in Chi-Town in April for a clustering conference, hopefully we'll have time to get together. If you're back.
