smurfs up in this piece

smurf unit! at our office meeting yesterday--gwen (on the phone), delara, me, liz, javad, and lacey. smurf power.

well, everyone, the time has come to initiate you into what will, no doubt, be the hot new thing. that, my friends, is SMURF. that's right, smurf--as in the smurfs.

basically, about 2 weeks, ago, i decided that my language was a little uncouth. so in an effort to effectively replace words like "freakin'" and "pissy," i opted for a harmless, fun, and very useful word--smurf. the great thing about smurf, and all variations thereof, is that smurf words are so versatile!

for instance:
"you look smurfy today!" = "you look beautiful today."
"are you smurfy?" = "are you freakin' crazy?"
"that smurfs me off." = "that pisses me off."
"smurfy!" = "awesome!"
"smurf me." = "bite me."
"you my smurf." = "you my girl/you my dawg."

so saying smurf words is tons of fun, and totally inoffensive. also, it's hilarious. i routinely crack up when i or anyone else uses them. and our office has really taken ownership of smurf--let me tell you, we have some hysterical people in there, and it's always a party.

credit goes to lacey for "smurfed up." so in a bad situation, you can say "dude, that's smurfed up," and be totally clean about things. this phrase has now been added to the acronymic lexicon in our office. so SU is now one of our acronyms. ("what an SU situation.")

also, liz is so hip and cool that she came up with an awesome name for our office: "smurf unit." that's right. our office ain't no g-unit. we tha smurf unit. if that's not intimidating, i dunno what is.

Nas as Much as I support your efforts to go clean stream with your language..smurf--gives me the hee-bee jee-bees like a swept away man speakinng in tongues at Deep South-ern Baptist revival under a tent in 110 degree weather with no lemonaid on hand.

Love,
Tem

hmmm... wondering why this post hasn't generated more comments.

stephen--smurfs are indeed communists. i fail to see how that delegitimizes my use of the word smurf for everything. :)

tem--your pre-bar-exam self is getting out of hand. i'm sure after the test is over, you'll appreciate smurf for the amazing word that it is. :)

Hopefully you have the blog set up to e-mail comments to you, else you may never see this... smurfs being communists does not deligitimize said usage. On your homepage, instead of inviting comments, you asked "is there something you'd like to share with the rest of us?," and I, taking it literally (as I so often do), realized that yes, I do have something to share: the simple fact that smurfs are commies.

=).
