stage fright
i gave group meeting yesterday (for those of you who don't know, a research presentation in front of my group of 40) and i was nervous. i've done this 7 times now and i still get nervous. i was even fairly confident in what i had done/knew about my subject. i did well overall i think, but i just don't know how to get over the stage fright. somebody help me, please!!! i'm giving a really big talk in a month (well, big in nature, actually only in front of 3 professors) and i don't want to be scared out of my mind. any suggestions?

When I was presenting information for work, to a new group of strangers every week, not a problem. I did a dinky 5 minute biographical sketch at the beginning of last semester and was twitchy... I think the fact that you're being graded changes your perception, but I don't know if there's a good way to think you're not being graded.

Meisa's group meeting last night just reconfirms to me an eternal truth: Meisa is the bomb. She rocked her presentation last night, folks, and had to correct our boss a couple of times. It was beautiful.
When I get nervous before group meetings I conjure up my favorite memory. Picture witnessing your boss walk down the hall, going to a really important meeting, with the back flap of his suit jacket tucked into his pants. And he's not just walking to the meeting, oh no, he's *strutting*. That's just sad.
