I just looked out the window and saw a UPS truck, with a (mostly) white roof. What happened to the brown roof with the truck's ID number painted on it? Is this some security-inspired change? It is strange times we live in when that's my first thought. But seriously, what gives?

1.) I think they use GPS to track the trucks. The Numbers aren't necessary.
2) The tops are translucent so the drivers can see what they are doing and read the labels.
I'm just guessing but other companies do that so I guess UPS does too.
Posted by: mominem at October 16, 2007 11:56 AMthat is so coincidental. I was just looking out of the office window around this same time and thought the same. i found out on wikipedia:
"The tops of many of UPS trucks are not painted brown but are in fact a white and translucent skylight; this allows operators to take advantage of natural light in daytime to see the vehicle's inventory."
mominem is right :)
