I love me some broccoli!
I just had a delicious lunch of crackers (stone ground sesame), cheese (sharp cheddar), broccoli (steamed with a bit of salt and butter), and an apple (Fuji).
In a land where plate lunch is king, it struck some coworkers as a bit odd, but I'm okay with that.
What'd you have?
Posted by Shokufeh at October 11, 2005 06:51 PMa lovely arugula salad, half a pita with turkey and haloumi cheese, and a honeycrisp apple. if you haven't had the honeycrisp, seek it out - it's fabulous!
Posted by: meisa at October 12, 2005 07:58 AMYou're making me hungry. I didn't bring anything exciting today. I am having is a tomato, cucumber & cheese sandwich with a side of carrots.
Posted by: steph at October 12, 2005 09:59 AMThese all sound much better than mine - I had a cup of "red beans & rice soup" - the dehydrated kind that you add boiling water to. Actually it's pretty tasty - but doesn't hold a candle to what you all had.
Posted by: Parviz at October 12, 2005 05:24 PMToday around lunchtime we were driving home from our mini-holiday in Northern Minnesota back down to St. Paul so I ate in the car. But it was leftover vegan pizza from Luce, no cheese, with mushrooms, spinach, and rinotta (ricotta made from tofu) and surprisingly good cold.
Posted by: Sharyn at October 12, 2005 08:07 PMOh great, my lunch is going to sound BORING. I had a piece of toast with butter and blackberry jelly. whoo-hoo - welcome to boringsville!
Posted by: bethanie at October 12, 2005 08:53 PMA southwest chicken spinach wrapper with cumin mayo, pepperjack, leaf lettuce, tomatoes, onions and banana peppers. Served with asian coleslaw and apple juice. Man, now I'm all hungry at bedtime. :)
Posted by: george at October 12, 2005 10:07 PMi'm late for this but i had a ginger scallion chicken stirfry, steamed broccoli and brown rice. oh, and a kiwi.
Posted by: stef at October 13, 2005 05:10 PMI had crackers and cheese a LOT during my pregnancy ~ especially during the first trimester when nothing else sounded good.
Posted by: Lisanne at October 14, 2005 05:42 PMThat sounds like a good heathy lunch with lots of fiber. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but there's been a request at my work to stop making broccoli in the microwave. We've been told that it smells like baby farts. Now, I can't really remember but I don't think that is true. Maybe you can test this when you have yours.
Posted by: Elaine at October 15, 2005 03:50 AMthis is great. reading what other people ate for lunch is a concrete reminder that the rest of the world is living their lives at the same time i'm living mine... even if i can't see them and i'm not thinking about them.
usually, that's a realization that only visits me from time to time, and it's always accompanied by some wonderment and some comfort. :)
