You might think this contradictory

Dear Papaya,
I love you! How could I ever have thought you smelled/tasted a little like vomit?
Your fan,

Oh my god, Shokufeh, I thought I was the only one who thought papaya tastes a little pukey! (What's UP with that?) I once asked my husband if he ever noticed a barfy-kinda taste to papaya, and his only reponse was, "That's gross, honey." Guess I've got to get my hands on some of the good Hawaiian stuff.

Wow, what a coincidence! I was just about to plant some papaya seeds in the back yard...

Perhaps if the fruit alone tastes a bit putrescent you should try it with some condensed milk and coconut creme in a smoothie. Sweetening tends to help.

Arin, it did cross my mind that it could be the variety of papaya that makes me like it so much more than in the past. Previously, it was just something I tolerated. In contrast to George's suggestion, papaya here is often served with lemon slices to tarten things up.

Oh my gosh. I've always thought the same thing! I like papaya flavored stuff, but not the after taste of fresh papaya. Weird!

i had dried papaya last week. dried papaya and dried pineapple and dried mango. i also got a regular mango but have not eaten it yet. i was happy. because i was eating my dried fruits that tasted good. they are gone now. i am sad. though i do have my regular mango still. what a life.
