Transcript, again

My brother has a one-track mind.

We were just catching up by phone. He told me about his new job, at the Buttercup Bakeshop. Isn't that a great name? I like to picture him wearing a white paper hat and a white apron. He's got the apron, but wears a baseball cap. I told him about my diminishing motivitation to make a Halloween costume. And then I remembered. I hadn't told him that Sam and I were going to see Rebirth Brass Band. It's great - a band from New Orleans, a band that has a standing Tuesday night gig in our old neighborhood, a band we thoroughly enjoy - here in Honolulu.

Me: Guess what we're doing for Halloween?
Him: Having a baby?!

I'm not making this up.

the band at your wedding totally recommended the rebirth brass band to me. it was so funny! they were all talking about how rebirth was such a great band and from new orleans and they were going to be in chicago or something. I just laughed and said I was from new orleans. I think they felt silly after that. It was fun.

there was a forced salad bowl game at my bday party this year and i don't know many people who seem all that thrilled to play it. but, meisa, if you want, i can teach you. i love it.

mojan -- our leaf invitations were great. too bad we didn't make charlie brown invitations for tonight's viewing of the family classic! ah, well, there's always next year.

salad bowl game?this sounds like pregnant talk to me

Posted by: anis at October 30, 2003 03:58 PM

ha ha ha, anis.... you funny boy!

Posted by: roya at October 30, 2003 06:09 PM

Well, I suppose we could theme a game of salad bowl "pregnancy salad bowl," but that might not be so much fun for everyone.

Now I'm curious too. I think this warrants an entry on the game rules (non-pregnancy version).

(Sup Anis! I miss you dude!)

speaking of pregnancy, i think i'm a few days late...

...reading all these questions about salad bowl. :)

whew. i almost has some explaining to do!

briefly, salad bowl is a game which oddly enough requires a salad bowl, some paper and pens. a punch bowl would also do. but a cereal bowl would be too small. each party-goer has about 10 small pieces of paper upon which they write the name of a well known person (dead, alive, fictional, non-fictional). and all these names are put into a bowl. partygoers are divided into teams and each person gets a minute to get their teams to guess as many names as possible. it's so much fun -- we've had the Hamburglar, Gunnar Nelson and Noam Chomsky all in the same bowl before!
