Since I got married last year, almost all of my conversations with my brother Anis have a segment similar to one of these:

Me: Hi, how are you?
Him: Good. Are you calling 'cause you're pregnant?
...................

Me: I just can't stay up late like I used to. Last weekend I tried it, and I was in a bad mood the next day.
Him: You're probably pregnant.
Me: Anis, I'm not pregant.
Him: Yeah, you are. You just don't know it yet.
...................

Me: I went to the doctor - my hip sometimes hurts when I walk.
Him: Are you pregnant?!
Me: No.
Him: Or maybe you are. But you guys aren't ready to make the announcement yet. So you're lying to me.
...................

It's amusing to have a brother so interested in my with-child/not-with-child status.
For the record, I'm not lying to him.

Ha ha... sounds just like Anis.

Yeah, but are you sure you aren't lying to him? Maybe you don't know yet.

You think I should start asking Emily if she's pregnant? How long do you think it would take her to actually kill me?

Hey, it's Opposite Day! Ha ha haaa!

shok, dont forget: kids are cheaper by the dozen!

Julia, I'm not pregant, not married, not planning on getting married, nor am I moving to Virginia. and I know where you live....

Posted by: Emily at October 22, 2003 08:42 AM

oh yeah, are you sure you're not pregnant? I had this dream about you the other day. I was visiting you in Hawaii (by the way, you lived in a tree right across a lake from Toronto, Canada) and you were pregnant. another interesting part of the dream was that you were a cross between yourself and sarah jessica parker. so now you two will be forever linked in my brain.

Emily,
Where in Virginia are you moving, and when?
By the way, how was Boston?

Posted by: Parviz at October 22, 2003 05:53 PM

I am sure, or at least pretty sure, I'm not lying. Who knows? Maybe I'll show up on the mainland with my pooch a little bigger. Heehee.
I'm glad that you, Emily, recognize the special bond that Sarah Jessica and I have. It disappeared for a while, when she was crazy skinny in a drug-addict looking way, but returned with the glow of her pregnancy. The bond dates back to my first viewing of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."

Ugh, Sarah Jessica. There's no denying her glow, but I am currently quite irritated with pregnant celebs. 1) They can afford the best maternity clothes 2) they can also afford personal trainers 3) they stay all skinny and perfect-looking and stuff. That's just not how *real* women look, goshdarnit. Sorry, venting because I'm a bit pregnant myself. Finally had to break down and order some maternity clothes yesterday.

Amen to all that. They definitely give a warped perception of what a pregnant woman "should" look like. Congratulations to you!

Thanks! We're super stoked. It's about time my son had a sibling. Well, it will be about time in early May :-)

BTW, what you wrote about your little man and the things he was saying the other day cracked me up.

Posted by: shokufeh at October 24, 2003 01:48 PM

Hey Em, you're moving to Virginia? Why didn't anyone tell me? Steve'll be bummed he doesn't get to help this time.

Tell Katie I think the bridesmaids should wear purple.

Posted by: Julia at October 24, 2003 08:51 PM

Attention!

Emily is NOT moving to Virginia; the boy Emily sees a lot of moved to Virginia. This does NOT mean Emily will move to Virginia. In August when Emily graduates, she will move to where ever she gets a job.

And Steve can ALWAYS help move. : )

And Boston was fun. Maybe I'll move there.

Posted by: Emily at October 24, 2003 09:43 PM

Hey Julia! I think PURPLE is grrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!
Em, when you're ready to move to VA, please remember to give me some notice....but can you please get married here in New Orleans? It just makes things easier if you marry here...I dont know how much the band we've picked out would charge if they had to travel.....
