Since Mojan made mention of a Tolo last week, I've been curious. Of course, first I went to the source (Mojan). Then I Googled it. There seems to be agreement that it is a dance, to which girls ask boys. I looked at a few of the Google results - all of them were in reference to schools in Washington.
My questions to you are:
Do/did you use the word Tolo? Where are you from?
Just curious if I should add this new word to my regular vocabulary, or reserve it for use only when I'm in Washington state.
Posted by Shokufeh at October 14, 2003 01:43 PMnever heard the word. never used it in or out of my home state of minnesota.
hope that helps, shok.

I speak Tolo -- Bellevue (a suburb of Seattle) High School, class of '94. So, maybe it is an exclusive Washington state thing.
In case you're wondering who I am, I'm a friend of Meisa's and stubled onto your blog via her lagoon. :)
Posted by: Julie at October 23, 2003 11:51 AMThanks, Julie. Welcome to my blog. Hey, do you and Mojan know each other?!
And thanks for your response, Kari. I'm thinking the sparsity of responses indicates that it is indeed a Washington thing. And that I don't know enough people from Washington.
It may not be a statistically significant survey, but my conclusion is that I will reserve the word "Tolo" for the next time I'm in Washington. Somehow, I will work it in, so they'll know I'm down with the lingo.
