Decadence

Last night we went to dinner and a movie. Nothing fancy - the whole evening cost about $25. But it felt decadent....
- Because it was something we planned - it wasn't just something we decided to do last minute, out of lack of better ideas.
- And because it was a weeknight - it made it seem like we were taking part in some restricted activity, and we didn't have to contend with the crowds of the weekend.
If you're looking for a special way to spend time with your honey, I highly recommend a weeknight date.

Even better is a weekDAY date. Take the afternoon off, have lunch, and go to a movie. It's heaven!

are "dates" some weird thing that married people do?

Oh yes. Dates are essential.

that is an excellent idea that i totally agree with. some times weekends are too crowded. maybe this wednesday would be a good date night ;)

How do you think we maintain the magic, Emily?
Julia, we might have to try the afternoon thing.

Though it reminds me of a book I read where the main character's parents had a date every Tuesday. Her mom would give them baths and put them down for a nap, and her dad would come home early from work, and then her parents would frolick away the afternoon. But then the dad died, and it was tragic.

what book is this? i just read a horribly depressing book about a parapalegic ("Dive from Clausen's Pier") and am kind of in the mood for another depressing one.

How very funny! I was trying to remember what book it was, so I went to Amazon and put in a familiar title, and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0156027461/qid=1063131838/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-3734754-1462202?v=glance&s=books&n=507846"> look</a> what popped up! The right book, by your same author!

You name it. Keeping a decent level of sanity and excitement! Because if you don't...you might end up in the hell you always wanted to avoid ;)
