A Letter to My Combination Skin

Dear Skin on my Face,

Why are you doing this to me? You are nice and normal on my cheeks, but darn you, evil T-Zone, for being so...evil! You break out for no reason! I drink gallons of water and still you act this way. What have I done to offend you so? I have tea tree-oiled, hormonally-controlled, exfoliated, antibiotic-ed, blotted, washed, sprayed you with nitrogen, astringented you and I am 24 years old and isn't this supposed to be over with by now?

I don't want to use drugs for stupid acne. I just want my adolescence to be over so I can get rid of you, dumb combination skin! I hope that someone at your quality control department gets this and spreads it around, because I am at a total loss.

With reluctant love,

Lacey

How much fruit do you eat? Many fruits contain citric acid and/or antioxidants that can control excessive moisture and high sebum production in the skin.

But eating more fruit doesn't necessarily mean less acne, as some people are just prone to it. If acne has become a major problem for you, Free Acne book (www.freeacnebook.com) has an "Acne Sample Diet" that you may want to try. I don't know anyone who has tried it, but philosophies in their regime ring true.

The basics? Eat fruit, salad, fresh raw animal food -- no canned foods, nothing spicy, nothing salty. Eat raw fish and/or egg yolk everyday, and remain physically inactive for at least 1.5 hours after you have eaten these. Don't use moisturizer; don't use topical hormone treatments. To learn more about why you may have acne, check out their website.

My guess is you can use as much exfoliant, nitrogen, and astringent as you want -- but because those are chemicals, they won't solve the real issues going on in your body.

all that mojan says is good and true. but the bottom line is that it's your hormones, whether they're being affected by your diet or other factors, that are causing your darned t-zone. and they call it adult acne. :) isn't that great? we have our own category for acne. yea!

Dear Lacey,

I am touched. This is the first time you've expressed your unconditional love for me even in the rough times. Your feedback to the quality control team is helpful and I can assure you that in a few more years the kinks will be worked out. The upgrade from version 1.8 to 2.4 has minor blips but we expect that by version 2.8 you'll have clearer resolution.

Hang in there!
Signed, your combination skin
