Travel Update

So, where's George been? I dunno, you seen him around? Nope, me either.

Hey kids. It's me. I'm back, however briefly. I feel like I haven't written anything of import for months now. And my flickr account has been strangely dormant, even as the photo backlog piles higher than knick knacks at a yard sale.

My excuse? In a phrase: Home Improvement. And no, Tim Taylor is not involved. Though I wish his buddy Al were. It all started with a leaky hot water heater. How it turned into floor replacement, wall repair, painting, plumbing, electrical boxes and door hinges I can't quite recall, but let's just say that owning a home is a bit like questing after a nine-headed hydra. Who knew the Toolman and Heracles had so much in common?

I've also had the pleasure of house-sitting for my friend Kevin. A week of exclusive access to the jungle pool and hot tub sounds nice until you realize just how much work it is to feed and water two dogs, a cat, a guinea pig and a fish. Er, scratch the "water" part for the fish. Thank heavens they took the hermit crabs with them. To Jersey.

Oh, and then there's actual work. Things have been crazy as we ramp up to launch. For any of you out there who *ahem* may have missed it, we're launching a shuttle this Saturday. Around 3:40pm EST. Just in case you're interested.

So why exactly is this entry entitled "Travel Update?" Well, I'm glad you asked. If anyone out there in intar-web-land wants to meet up and chill, I'll be in the following locales in the near future:

Nashville. July 6-9. My birthday is the seventh, par-TAY on the eighth.

Chicago. August 4-6. Lollapalooza. Get your tickets now before the price goes up again.

Jackson Hole. February 2-11. If you can somehow get to Orlando, I can get you roundtrip airfare, six days of lift tickets, lodging, banquet and a party for $1050. But you have to let me know before Friday, when the $250 deposit is due.

That's it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to scraping the floor.

All quiet on the Southern Front

When my extended family (Dad, Mom, Delara and BIL-Daniel) came down to visit for Memorial Day Weekend, my mother decided to stay on for a two-week vacation. While in Hollywood families this would make for wacky comedy or protracted drama, in ours it's nothing out of the ordinary. I in fact, dare I say, love to have my mother visit. Never is my house cleaner, my lawn greener, or my tummy fuller than when she's in town. We love to take road trips to local places of interest, enjoy many of the same foods, and are always up for an adventure. Our conversations range from hilarious to profound, but are always interesting and engaging.

Long story short, Mom flew back home on Saturday. And that, coupled with my roommate moving out the same day, means the house seems rather empty and lonely tonight. There is hope, however, since I fly to Nashville on July 6th for my birthday on the 7th (most-anticipated gift: Dead Man's Chest) and a party on the 8th. If you're in my neck of the woods that weekend, come on down!

Alas, now it's time for the blogging to end and the chores to begin: today marks the first day I've ever brought work home from the office. No, I'm not being overworked; this is my own doing. What's better: to tell yourself you'll learn not to put things off or to come to terms with the fact that, after 26 years, you're a confirmed procrastinator? Answer: life ain't made of only the things you like to do. Anyone know where that magical fount of motivation for unwanted tasks hides? I moved to Florida to try and pick up where ol' Poncy left off...

Vlog? How do you even say that?

Check it out, kids. Denise, tenacious as she is, never relented in her quest for videos from Utah. Ergo, I have taken this opportunity to check out YouTube and post a few vids from our first day of snowboarding. Two things: 1) Tyrone only takes 15-second flicks and 2) this was our first day of learning to snowboard. So don't expect a music video with totally sick tricks. We're just testing the waters here.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: the TFB vlog.
