Socked In

weather060105w.JPG

Um, yeah. Chicago: sunny and 78. Florida: subtropical thunderstorms.

I awoke this morning to peals of thunder strong enough to shake the walls. It wasn't until I looked outside that I realized there was no delay between the flash and the rumble. That's because the bolts were striking my neighbor's trees.

Ignoring the omen, I ventured out today. I wanted to post this note to say I am still alive and kicking, only I haven't received my new wireless device yet so the twenty-plus topics left to cover here will have to wait. In the meantime I'm pressing on with the moblog, or as I like to call it, Brekkie Lite. So keep eating your wheaties. The pancakes will return soon enough.

Isn't it great? A big wet launch into Summer in the sub-tropics. Daily thunderstorms come in two varieties - 1. off the Gulf, usually in the morning (the kind we've been having this week), and 2. from the interior of the state, and pushing towards the coast (aka the classic PM thunderstorms you can set your watch by.) Get your camera ready, George, here comes storm season!

Hey Vince, thanks for the comment! I've been really surprised by this three-day thunderstorm extravanganza. I can't remember storms lasting this long, even when I was in Tampa. But the clock-setting afternoon showers are fun. You might think he's joking, folks, but it's like every day at 4pm sharp.

You could call it the Atkins Brekkie. But I think I like "lite" better. We could go into a whole discussion about carbs here but I'll leave it alone.

We had so much fun with you, George!!!! Can't wait to see you in a couple of months! ;)
