if you haven't already...

I strongly urge you to purchase and breathe in Keane's album "Hopes and Fears" as soon and often as possible!

Inhale...

...exhale. So refreshing. I could do this all day.

(and it might amaze you when you realize there is no guitar.)

I'm putting another batch of photos here, although a more complete set has been uploaded to my flickr page. So, check out the full set (full = perhaps 1/4 of the total number of awesome photos i took, but i can't upload everything! ask me to see them and i'll share in person) and consider moving to Maui with me. Haha!

Enjoy.

Am I the ONLY person in Chicago who is home NOT watching the game tonight? At least there's the espn.com live broadcast. Yes!

maui

A few beautiful scenes from Maui. It is so difficult for me to choose just a few images from the hundreds I took to convey the essence of what it was like for me to be in such an amazing part of our world.

I gotta do this in increments. There is just so much to share! Little by little the story will unfold...

breathtaking, is it not?

ah yes, the palm trees

black sand beaches, northeast side of the island

the seven sacred pools, southeast side

shocking

Well, well, well. If it isn't me, back in the blogosphere if only for a brief moment.

There is plenty more to come - on surfing, rest and relaxation, new friends, new directions and ideas. Right now, though, I'm still adjusting to life back on the mainland - STRIKINGLY different from life on the islands. Or at least the island I visited and could quite possibly call home one day in the future. For at least a while...

But back to my culture shock. I have been driving around for the past few days (having arrived back in Chicago on Wednesday morning) wondering why it is, exactly, that I live here? Thank goodness I'm in the city these days (vs. the suburbs) or I think I'd just go mad.

And thank goodness for AWESOME friends - new and old - who are the exact reason I live here. If only I could magically transplant them to the magical island of Maui... ah, yes. An evil plot is being hatched at this moment. Mwa haha.

bon voyage

Dear Blog,

I am sending you away on a week-long vacation today. You must be the first blog in history to actually go on vacation, eh? Wow. How very special.

So, I took the liberty of making all the arrangements already. You will be going on a retreat to Maui where you will learn how to surf and use yoga to strengthen your mind and body. You'll also go on a bunch of fun excursions and will be eating the best food ever.

Yeah, it will be good for you. I have sensed for some time now that you need to get away, and here's your chance! So, make sure you're packed enough sunblock, and I'll see you again in a week.

Love,
Delara

my horoscope today... yeah.

"The future is always in motion, so don't stress if you can't quite make out your goal right now. Simply deal with events as they come along, and try not to control or predict the future too stringently. After all, life has many wonderful surprises to offer, but the trick is to be in a receptive state so you can appreciate the surprise. For right now, put the past behind you and focus on the present. The future will be here before you know it."

Mm hm.
