things i'll miss about chicago

being able to call my brother spontaneously to get together for dinner and a walk along the lake with Dame Tessera

the junk trucks!!

our amazing skyline... always a sight to behold

the Shedd Aquarium and Brookfield Zoo

Chicago-style hot dogs

beach volleyball during summer - save me a spot from time to time, y'all

Buckingham Fountain on a hazy, 80-degree summer evening

glorious thunder/lightening storms

free Tuesdays at the Art Institute

walking down Michigan Avenue

all the Mexican neighborhoods and their spirit

the Botanic Garden and Ravinia Park in the summertime (I will have to come for at least one concert this summer!)

Long Grove Village - if you've never gone, you must go

Frango mints at Marshall Field's - and I hope they don't change the name to Macy's!

Taste of Heaven and Ann Sathers - sigh... I hope I can find breakfasty places like those in Nashvegas

biking through the Skokie Lagoons

spending time with you

also, i miss lincoln park -- the conservatory, the zoo, the gardens. and the statue. :)

and delaera used to be one of the things i missed about chicago, but no longer... maybe delara will now be the first thing i miss about tennessee. ;-)

ooooooh - toast!?? say it ain't so!

There's no city like Chicago, D. But I can hook you up with a couple of great breakfasty places in Nashvegas. They even have toast.

aw...

the thing about marshall field's for me, though, is all about the name. i remember going there as a kid and ordering hot chocolate and cookies with my parents. so, it's just an identity thing. "a rose by any other name..." i know - but still, field's is field's! now, they could use some of the macy's influence.

things chicago will miss about delara:

having coffee with her

strolling aimlessly through evanston on a summer night with her

women's night in her oh-so-comfy basement

anything in her oh-so-comfy basement.

i'm still compiling, but on another note, this whole Marshall Field's turning into Macy's thing. I'm okay with it. Last time I was at Macy's their petites section had way more to offer me than Marshall Field's. If I could have, I would have told the powers that be at Marshall Fields, that not all petite women are old.
