reasons to love florida
it is by the ocean ('nuff said on that one)
there are palm trees everywhere
the sign reading "PSYCHIC" is just as big as the sign for Papa John's and Subway at the strip malls
citrus stands at which you can buy fresh o.j. and locally grown grapefruits
all the memories of my childhood it brings flooding back into my consciousness - fresh coffee and donuts at The Breakers in Delray Beach, Publix, renting a Trans Am in Daytona Beach, getting caught in rainstorms, Greg Raciti from Yonkers, removing tar from our feet at the beach, Epcot Center, going to the movies to escape the heat...
the smell of the ocean air
people having a *blast* at the beach for their first time - and their 100th time
geckos (no, really - i think they are so cute! except when they fall on your pillow while you are sleeping. ahem. and who doesn't love insectivores?)

totally, nas! publix AND winn-dixie! haha. and we too had those cheap-o rain ponchos "just in case" it rained. another reason: good seafood.

totally. my childhood is full of happy florida memories, too. definitely disney world... and the daily 20-minute rainshower that punctuates the afternoons there (that's when the clear plastic raincoats with the epcot picture on them come in handy). also, the sound of waves crashing outside the window at night. and publix! :)

FL is great. Looks like the weekend after L+M, I will be going down to one of its beaches. I recommend everyone go once a year. As it is just minutes away, that is easier for me than others.
:D
