media blitz
Those of you who know me know that some of my favorite parts of seeing a film at a theatre are the trailers. It is quite possible that I have been more excited about the trailers for the last couple of movies I have seen than the films themselves. (Yeah, Fantastic Four was just barely ok, but I am pretty easily entertained.) I am SO EXCITED about a small handful of films coming out in the near future, I can hardly contain myself! I find myself having the odd feeling of not being able to *wait* for fall and winter to come around. Odd, because the thought of dragging myself through yet another cold, wet, slushy winter season is not appealing in the least. But... these films will be the media highlight of this year!! Hot enough to melt the snow, baby!
First, there is what will likely be (in my own little world, anyway) the BEST stop-motion animated film EVAH! (I know, I am setting the bar pretty high.) You thought Chicken Run was cool? Watch out for the new Wallace & Gromit film. Aaaahhhhh!! I can't take it, I am so geeked about it!
Then, of course, we get to witness CS Lewis' classics come to life. I so adore his masterful writing and unique spiritual perspective - still working my way through "The Great Divorce" and "The Screwtape Letters" - brilliant. So, naturally, I can't wait for Narnia to come out. Magical...
And naturally, the new Harry Potter film. Again, aaaaaahhhhhh!! I can't wait! 'Nuff said.
Finally, although it doesn't come out until early 2006, I am in great anticipation of Aeon Flux, particularly since Charlize Theron is cast in the lead role. Yeah, some of us chicks dig her as well, and I think she's a good choice for the role. It will be pretty different from anything she has done yet. Wow - I cannot wait to see how they adapt the bizarro scenarios from Peter Chung's animated series. Charlize is going to have to be pretty athletic to capture Aeon's acrobatics. Sweeet.
So, if you call me on a cold November evening and I don't answer, chances are I'm at the cinema. Would you like some butter on your popcorn?

Excited about all of the above. :-D (except Aeon Flux, cuz I don't know anything about it)

i might break my "don't pay $9 for fantasy/action movies because you won't enjoy them" rule for narnia. only because i have fond memories of my sister reading the series to me. i would love to see it with you, d!
