hello sunshine

This just in - I spent the last two days straight wearing flip flops on my feetsies. As we all know: flip flops = happy feet. Happy Feet = Happy Abs.

In other happy news - tickets have been purchased for the Dave Matthews Band Island Getaway.
All in one day I will get to see Ray LaMontagne, Jem, Mike Doughty, Barenaked Ladies, Robert Randolph and the Family Band and Dave Matthews Band. All of these are bands/artists that I know and love and have either already seen or would love to see. Thanks to the genius of Mr. Matthews and company I get to do all that in one day. I can hardly stand it. For your convenience I've linked those lesser known artist names that you should all know - for it is truly good music - and truly good music must be shared.
Mmm, and speaking of - Finally picked up the latest Interpol cd today. You know the one that was all the talk months ago. You cant be on time or early for every party - but you can sure enjoy the "teachers discount" at Borders. (No, I didnt get a new profession - just happened upon the best cashier ever).

And now for more happiness - a few pictures from Dawn's baby shower.

rough week, world...

It's been a rough week, huh.
For me, personally and for the world it would seem. Everytime I turn around another big name personality has passed away. Seems like a lot for a week's time anyway.

Today was the biggest loss of the year however. Pope John Paul II left this world earlier today. The world sat awaiting this change in one way or another, and so beneficially - we were able to read in the papers today legacies and praises of his long and fruitful life of service. I can't say I have a volume of words on the passing of the Pope, but as expected I'm insanely interested in how events will unfold in the next month. First there will be the international mourning and media circus(es) related to the funeral proceedings. Then a new era begins for millions world wide as their attention will turn to the Vatican city in anticipation of a replacement that will hardly be able to live up to one whose actions dubbed him the Pope of Peace.

Also - I can't help but notice that election proceedings for the Papacy begin 15-20 days after his passing. In 15-20 days, Baha'is worldwide will be gathering in their respective communities to elect their Administrative bodies. Local and National Spiritual Assemblies will be renewed and will embark on yet another year of growth and consolidation. Something within me is warmed at the thought of these processes of prayer, consultation and election happening within the same time frame. No further connections to be sought - just a hmm, isn't that interesting.

Spring has sprung. How you doin?
