not in hiding

Dearest blogosphere - I haven't died. I have been very busy. Well, all my time has been occupied in any case. I like having my time occupied. Shazam.
I still hate snow - however this past week brought me a fun night while stuck in with the blizzard outside. Blizzard sure is a funny word... as is Noreaster. We get pretty crazy about our weather up here. Either way, every day I remind myself it's a day further out of wintertime. Hallelujiah.

And now for the random deep thought of the week -- The tortoise definetly always wins the race. Or atleast this time. Thank goodness for the tortoise. However, the finish line sure gets long and sleep-deprived from all it's celebratory work.

Too Cool For School

Lay-c.com has been growing! I have a new blog brother - George..AND a new blog sister - Naseem!

George, I have not had the pleasure of meeting - however Toast For Brekkie quickly became one of my favorite daily reads the past few weeks.

Nas! Nas is a dear friend from the era that was 2002. She rocks my socks off and then back on again. Truly, we are blessed to have her wit and wisdom around this block.

Folks - Lay-c.com is officially off da richter. I'm sure it was tipping before, from the weight of all this hot bloggin, now the scale has no choice but to burst from joy. Woohooo!

traffic hairy? Bring a razor!

I broke my ABS.

Seriously though, Yesterday was a milestone - I went to the gym for the first time in a few months. It was fabulous. Today I overslept. However, once up and breakfast was outta the way, more crunches and a whole lotta stretching was done.
The abs arent broken, but a happy sore. A happy sore that screamed at me everytime I laughed, sneezed, coughed or slouched today.
Tomorrow, tomorrow is the big day. The big day that decides if I'll be lazy again or if I will keep this regular gym visits and excersizing muscles thing going. Today was supposed to be the big day, but it turned into the mini - oh just do some crunches and stretch and make your body feel better about itself day. I could play this tomorrow is the big day game forever. Except that'd be illogical... so I better just go to the gym.

shoveling, driving woes

Dear City of Albany Department of Transportation:
You Suck.
Please explain to me how my street, being the connection to an on ramp for a County route - hence fairly busy - barely gets touched by a plow unless it's dark out. Also explain how the major street I live off of, also being home to the State University entrances, doesnt see much in the way of a plow unless it's driving down the middle of both lanes.
Second thought - don't explain - just get better at it your job - because much to all our displeasure - winter has only begun.
Uh,Thanks.
Abs

Dear Mother Nature:
I know we've had these discussions before - but I gotta put in yet another request: Can you not have it snow ALL DAY every day I have off? That would be fantastic. Just one day, no messy roads, no shoveling. Oh and also when I have plans. So second thought, if you have to - it can snow on my days off, but only if I dont have good plans for the day in place already. I promise to be kind to the earth and stuff.
Thanks.
Abs

For Love or the End of that blasted Ring

So I finally watched the movie Troy tonight. Definetly as good as I expected. But I gotta tell ya - In Hectors second to last battle as he cried out to his fellow Trojans - I swear he said "For Frodo!!". I even rewound it and listened again. Both fantastic movies, legends, stories, etc in their own right... but somewhere between one epic battle scene and another they so have the possibility to meld nicely. Don't you think?

And now for something completely different:
Happy 7th Birthday to my cousin Kristen!

Kristen - way cuter at 7 than I ever was..

and now for something with depth

Or an entry with links:
So - apparently LiveJournal is on the verge of being owned by Six Apart - proprietors of MT and TypePad. Interesting...
This scoop came to me via the lovely Prema; and can be read about Here.

Also seriously worth checking out via Prema's lj - Bloggers Without Borders - a citizen journalism hub. Besides the coolness of the idea itself - lets side track and focus on how hot 'citizen journalism hub' sounds! It's catchy, it's well-intentioned, it's well-informed. And it's doing a lot in the way of Relief news and support in the wake of what could be largest tragedy of our lifetimes.

And not to be understated in conjunction with paragraph 1: yeah - I still have my livejournal . My thoughts do not fall into the assumed categories of oh man what if you have to always pay for livejournal from now on... Rather I am interested to see what developments unfold. If it is a payment issue, I'm sure I'll just let mine lapse and go by the way of time. But I dont see that being the issue. I see the issue as keeping the appeal to the kiddie bloggers. Livejournal traditionally appeals to the high school set - the kids well aware of the coolness that is blogging yet unaware of how to procure a site from which to use MT or other tools. (Or, not lucky enough to have a Blog Mom as cool as Lay-C.). Does the young appeal continue to grow or falter? Or does the entirety of the blog community not even blink at this swallowing up of a phenomena?
Either way - we'll all blog on again. Even if things get a bit too heavy, we'll all blog on again.
(Shame on me for that poor poor song reference....)

Yelloooo 2005...

Can you believe it's the start of a new year already? I almost can't.
New Years weekend brought me some much needed time with friends I just dont see that often. I got two whole days off, in a row, and I feel like I actually managed to make the most of them. Hot.

Here's to a year that is way more exciting, life altering, and joyful than the ones previous!

Happy New Year Everyone!
