I would still shop at Target all the darn time. I heart Target.
I would also buy tickets to the following summer concerts:
- Dave Matthews Band & Nappy Roots - SPAC - July 1 & 2
- Dave Matthews Band & O.A.R. - Tinley Park, IL - June 18
- Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper & Black Eyed Peas - Carson, CA - August 28 (my birthday!)
- Dave Matthews Band & Jason Mraz - Gorge, WA - September 4 & 5
- Ben Folds, Guster & Rufus Wainwright - Summerstage, Central Park - July 13 &14
- O.A.R. - Jones Beach, Long Island - August 6
I'm sure there are others, but currently I hold my list at these dates. Alas, I will probably only get to one or two of em, and in reality the only possibility are the SPAC dates for DMB. *whimper* If it were up to me, summertime would be about nothing more than warm weather, sunburns, concert trips, and fun related thereto.
In other reality check news - I yet again find myself in the position of having to pack up my worldly belongings and move them to a new residence. That's just a dramatic way of saying the parents bought a new home and I'm moving in the next few days. And incase you're wondering - if I had a million dollars, no, I wouldnt move out of my parents house, yet.
Tomorrow night ABC is showing my favorite movie to it's national audience. Some movies, in my humble opinion, were not meant to be on television, with commercials to kill the buzz.
Great movies are being commericialized way too quickly lately for my tastes. Another prime example is the fact that Big Fish is due to hit Video Stores everywhere next week. Dude, what happened to the days of a few month gap between theater and video?! I suppose we can chalk this up to the DVD and all it's new fangled wonders. The DVD has given movie power houses the ability to over package and over sell, thus making a film worth more money after the fact than during it's original run. Makes me sad. Films are supposed to be a sacred art, and a medium through which endless stories, feelings and memories are brought to life. Please don't tell me I'm supposed to find that in all the extra features for which I pay the twenty bucks to own on the dvd in addition to the film I enjoyed so much the first time I wanted to buy it.
I wonder what Lester Bangs would say about the state of theater to video sales we have today. Though his forte was rock music, I can just imagine he'd give us a good verbal kick for commercializing our art.
Wow! What a day of choices. Particularly the choice is... what day to celebrate/commemorate?
Today is :
- Jackie Robinson Day
- National High Five Day
- and of course, the last day to file your taxes for the year 2003.
Me? Taxes done almost two months ago now... I'm free to celebrate the day: the breaking of the color barriers in 'America's Pastime', and the excitement and energy that comes with hi-five-ing my day away!
It's a good day world... do enjoy it!
My memory is fading folks. Important memories.... such as the end of the dance in the Right Stuff video by the New Kids on the Block, and the words to Rappers Delight by Sugar Hill Gang. All is not lost, I can still sing all the words to The Right Stuff, and I can still atleast get the beat for Rappers Delight. Thanks to google I am able to do a quick re-study of the lyrics to Rappers Delight. I find myself at a loss, however, for the NKOTB dance moves. Must find video.
hooo boy, I got to add a "milestone" to the list today. First time I've ever been pulled over, and my first speeding ticket. Yes, folks, I managed to avoid those flashing lights in my rear view mirror for seven years of licensed driving now. (granted not all seven were times when I drove frequently or at all). Damn the man. I refuse to use this blog space to discuss the irony of being told "Be Careful" by Mr. State Trooper, then watching him swerve out onto the interstate and proceed to exceed the speed limit by atleast 20mph.
This week has been filled with endless ways for me to miss Chicago.
I've let the days go by since posting here once again, and I apologize. In the meanwhile, baseball season has begun! Yay!
For the record, if you didn't already know it, I'm a big Mets fan. This season started quite well for us tonight. Our new superstar Kaz Matsui hit a homerun on his first major league pitch ever, and also knocked in 3 more RBI's later on. Kaz, you're my hero.
In other news, my day to day routine has yet to settle down. I imagine that in the next week or so, when it does settle, I'll have more to talk about as I'll be able to read more, watch tv a bit more, sleep more etc.
