oh the things you'll see...

So, to elaborate on my previous entry where I mentioned randomness at my places of work, I give you the following story:
Saturday, 10 am, H&R Block, all is quiet, a few clients waiting to be seen, a sleepy CSC (thats me) sits at the front desk staring out the window. Outisde (but we'll call it stage left) enter crazy kid, walking by slow with a limp, muttering. Sleepy CSC thinks, hmm hope he's ok. Sleepy CSC decides to do some work to avoid further boredom, five minutes pass, Crazy kid comes back by the window, this time more than a limp, he is literally twitching violently. Crazy kid twitches so much he's now facing us quiet on lookers inside the tax office. Sleepy CSC notices an odd white rope looking thing in Crazy kid's hands. Crazy kid raises his arm and Sleepy CSC realizes that's no rope thats a two foot long snake. Sleepy CSC and her desk chair fly five feet in the other direction.
Crazy reptile kid was back again today, and he had this giant bullfrog in his hands.
Granted, we do have a Pet Store a few doors away, but really... do people actually get to carry those "pets" around not in some kind of case?
No, I'm not a reptile fan, ok. Thank goodness crazy reptile kid hasnt come in to get his taxes done yet...

badger love

So, it turns out working two jobs is entirely exhausting. Well I knew that much ahead of time, so this isn't complaining. On the contrary, I'm actually enjoying myself at both places of work even with such a lack of sleep.
Work this week, at either job, could also have come with the subtitle "oh the things you'll see". Randomness abounds in my world as per usual. One shining example was when I met Bucky the Badger (and all his friends from Wisconsin... oh man how I love Wisconsinites..ha!).

I've been afforded enough down time at the tax office job lately to read more magazines than I usually do. I have to say I'm quite impressed with the latest issue of Rolling Stone. RS is sorta a give or take mag for me, usually worth the four bucks, but sometimes I go through it in a few minutes already bored by it's drivel. This issue is a whole other category though. Makes you remember why Rolling Stone emerged as an institution of sorts in the music industry in the first place. Very enjoyable reading. I love it when a magazine gives me a whole lot more than some pictures and quips to glance at.

Other things I'm enjoying lately include the notion that spring has finally sprung. Today I put on the flip flops, consumed my first frappucino of the season and drove with all the windows down and my sunglasses on. Twas a beautiful thing and the prospect of it only getting warmer over the coming weeks pleases me endlessly.

Happy New Year!

Hey whoa, it's the new year already! Happy Naw Ruz world!

Been a few days since I've blogged. Last Thursday evening I went to a Guster concert. I love me some Guster, plain and simple. I have to comment on the harsher aspect of concert going for me these days though. Kids. Where did they all come from? When did I get so old? Was I ever that annoying? Seems like every show I go to I feel older and older. This was the first time where I was attending a general admission (i.e. standing room) show, where seating on the sides was available and I went for it, instead of pushing into the crowd. Yep. I'm old. I sat with the adults. I was, however, that girl that was was dancin in her seat the whole time and singin the whole time. It was a grand ol show. You just can't ever go wrong with a Guster show. File that under things that will make me smile for days and days on end.

Also under happy music related notes - I'm in love with The Bens EP. "Bruised" is my new 'easily gonna stick in my head all day' song. I do hope there will be a US tour. How cute would that be!?

Generally, I'm quite excited for this new year. It seems as though a key I needed was handed to me and all I have is to open the door with the proper amount of force to move ahead. We shall see. Currently however, the most apt way to describe my start to B.E. 161 is overwhelmed. It's better than being underwhelmed I suppose. I hear in Europe you can be sometimes be just whelmed. And if you can name that movie, you win.

well set my snow globe to shake...

So yeah, a blizzard in March... not my idea of fun. It's been snowing all day long. After work I displaced about three inches of snow off my car, and since that time about another three inches have fallen, and it's not supposed to stop until mid day tomorrow. Lest Mother Nature forget - Sunday is the Spring Solstice.

In other random news:
I've been sleeping with my head at the opposite end of the bed for the past few days. Don't ask why, because I don't know. Laziness, perhaps... but doesn't that go hand in hand with sleep? no? ok, I'm just weird.

Congratulate me. It's official, I got a job. A better paying job. A full time job. A job I'm happy about. This also means that until April 15, I have two jobs, and will presumably sleep even less than I do now. Wheee.

not a fan

Ok. I just don't get the Krispy Kreme craze. I mean, I'm all for super sugar filled foods, but those donuts are too much for me. Way too much sugar at once, I can hardly finish one without feeling full and shaky all at once. eek.
Anyway, I was driving by the brand new Krispy Kreme in our area tonight and it was ridiculously mobbed. The line was a good ten people out the door, and the drive thru was backed up by about 7 or 8 cars. I couldn't have pulled in to the lot if I wanted to. See, there wasn't any need to though, with them being so busy, you could smell the donuts inside your car, just driving by the store. Needless to say I drove by twice.

what, no

Why more snow? I had spring fever all caught and was near revelling in it. Snow is a most unwelcome sight, even if it doesn't stick to the ground and pile up.

Ever have one of those days where you're just brain dead enough that everything seems hazy, and small things keep mis-firing all over the place... but really no one died and nothing major broke, and nothing was *really* stressful, so you can't complain, but you just wanna say 'what the crap' all day long?

hey look, a bandwagon!

Today I was the lucky recepient of a diet pepsi cap worth a free song download from iTunes. The past few months I've been on an anti-downloading kick. I've picked up a lot of old or used cd's that I didn't own yet but had the mp3's, cleared up the space on my hard drive etc. Today all that went by the wayside because of one lil yellow soda cap.

An hour later.... I'm an official convert. I love iTunes. It even plays all my other media files with ease and quality. And hey .99 is actually pretty cheap considering you go to the record store and pay $20 for 15 songs nowadays.

First song downloaded - O.A.R. & Robert Randolph - Fool in the Rain
Second song downloaded - Outkast - I like the Way You Move
No surprises here folks, I'm a creature of habit when I'm broke.

And, lets be honest, iTunes is like a candy store with free samples of chocolate and peanut butter everywhere you look. One must remember to devour it slowly in order to avoid any sort of stomach ache, or other problematic situation.

Oh, in case you're wondering - even with my new found love - I still think the commerical for this Pepsi/iTunes deal is highly annoying.

Happy Month of Ala!

Eeek! Tonight begins the Fast!

This year, more than a general awareness of the passing of time and what the calendar tells me is goin on... I know its the Fast because my mind is swamped and overactive like none other. Every passing thought seems to get analyzed til I understand why I thought it or why I felt it. It's hard to determine whether thats good or bad most of the time. But right now it seems to fit perfectly.
