Happy Birthday to my Moms!!!
And... Happy Birthday to me (a few days early)! I received my pre-ordered cd/dvd packages yesterday. I fall in love with Jason Mraz and his stylistic renderings even more everytime I hear him. I've not had the time to watch his dvd yet, but it's most likely a given that endless joy will ensue.
My O.A.R. Limited Edition cd/dvd package is superb. (I mean duh). I know I was there when it happened, but I still can't hardly believe how amazing they were. And I gotta tell ya - seeing myself and my friend Dave on the dvd will crack me up for years to come. I'm so short it's ridiculous, but man if it doesnt take seeing yourself at the front of a crowd of six thousand on a concert dvd to prove it to you. The parts of the dvd that I wasnt present for when they happened also just floored me they were so fantastic. I'll leave it at that much though because I think we all, heck the whole world, gets the fact that I love me some ....of a revolution.
Also yesterday - I came across this: "So it's not exactly that records might unhinge the mind, but rather that if anything is going to drive you up the wall it might as well be a record. Because the best music is strong and guides and cleanses and is life itself" - Lester Bangs, 1971.
And on that note - what music makes that quote ring true to you? That is surely music I want to know about.
Posted by Abby at August 25, 2004 12:09 PMHappy Birthday indeed. I'd have to say O.A.R. and Mraz coming on the same day makes it a gooder, for sure.
Oh yes, and Happy Birthday, Mom!
Oh also, you know the tunes I dig but I'll get back to you on more soon.
Love you lots and miss ya!
Dooptastica the Great
Posted by: Dooptastica at August 25, 2004 06:04 PMSurely you'll think I'm sappy, but Sarah McLachlan is total embodiment of that quote for me.
Posted by: +mojan. at August 26, 2004 12:55 PMMoj - sappy? who cares? I've been known to dig some Sarah myself from time to time and understand the band-aid her soul reaching lyrics and melodies tend to provide with a characteristic ease that can only dispense healing vibes.
