So I'm convinced double headliner concerts are a bad idea. Last year it was the utter shock that the Counting Crows would actually be opening for John Mayer. This weekend it was the complete dismay that the Barenaked Ladies went on before Alanis Morrisette. Booooo. Though I gotta say, Barenaked Ladies was too much fun. They truly do put on a great show. And who would have thought you could actually sit and chill on the lawn at a show?
This weekend also found me in the Palisades Center for the first time in a few years. Dined at Stir Crazy and spent some time browsing the would be junior mall of america.

Speaking of concerts and consumerism, I just read this crazy article about how so many tours have been canceled this year because of falling ticket sales... and the fingers are pointing to the fact that an average concert ticket cost only $26 last year, and $50 this year! Fifty freakin' dollars! I remember seeing Sir-Mix-Alot for only $7 in 1990, and Sarah McLachlan for $18 in 1994. Crazy.
Posted by: +mojan. at July 21, 2004 03:39 PMYeah I started going to shows circa 1995, and I remember the ticket that was twenty bucks after all the ticketbastard fees.
Now after ticketbastard has their way with my wallet I think my average is closer to 40-45 bucks a pop. Which averages considered, I'm still under the radar... but it sure hurts when you first buy those tickets, afterwards (the concert I'm paying for) is a whole other joy I'm still endlessly addicted to, however.
That's why I got into indie rock..the shows are cheap (sometimes) and easy to go see. But I think that was a phase, because I don't know jack anymore about music.
